Users Perception Towards the Use of Electronic Journals: A Study with Reference to University of Kashmir, Srinagar (India)

Abstract This paper aims to explore the users’ perception towards the use of electronic journals (e-journals). A well structured questionnaire was designed to elicit the opinion of users. Responses were gathered from 160 users of the University of Kashmir. The results of the study provide information about preferred format and sources of reading articles, characteristics that affect the choice of e-format over print or print over e-format, purpose for which e-journals are used, problems faced by the users while accessing e-journals, features not currently supported in e-journals and expected features in future e-journals. On the basis of the findings, some suggestions have been put forth for maximizing the use of e-journals.
