Abstract This article is a study about RSS (Real Simple Syndication) and its application in libraries. RSS is an XML-based format for content distribution. Webmasters create an RSS file containing headlines and description of specific information. The technology is similar in concept to the traditional Current Awareness Service (CAS) and Selective Dissemination of Information Service (SDI) offered by the librarian of yesteryears. Number of RSS feeds available differ significantly from libraries to libraries. This is significant in exploring the various possibilities of RSS in libraries.
