Learning media resources in school libraries of Marathwada

Vaishnav Ashwini Anand1 1Ashwini Anand Vaishnav, ICSSR Senior Fellow, Former Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad - 431004 (Maharashtra) India Abstract Maharashtra state has six administrative divisions, one of them is Aurangabad division popularly known as Marathwada. Marathwada has eight districts viz. Aurangabad, Beed, Hingoli, Jalana, Latur, Nanded, Osmanabad and Parbhani. Scope of the study is limited to eight districts of Marathwada. The paper attempts to study School Report Cards (SRC) from School and Teachers Directory for the period 2017–18, for availability of learning media resources (Books)for the period under study and State Profile UDISE+ for students and teachers in all schools of Marathwada for the year 2017–18. Study calculates learning media resources (Books) available in school library per student, per user (Teachers + Students). Analyzes availability of learning media resources (Books) by Managing body, level and location of schools. Study finds that of the 22252 only 19371 schools in Marathwada have learning media resources in the form of printed books.
