Abstract

One of the main purposes of this study is to discover the position of the awareness and the usage of e-journals and the e-databases amongst the students studying the technical universities in the district of Hissar in the state of Haryana. This paper examines the trend of the use of the blueprints of the e-journals and the e-databases by the students gaining technical education in technical universities located in the Hissar district in Haryana. The ambit of this study is focussed on the Postgraduate and Ph. D. students in an agricultural university and another technical university named as Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) and Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology (GJUST) respectively. The observations of the study indicate that students belonging to both the universities were sufficiently aware of the e-journals and put them into use effectively. A large percentage of students, that is 85.41% of the students at CCS HAU and 77.02% of students at GJUST, used e-journals and e-databases extensively. A large majority of the users in both the university used the e-journals and e-databases for preparation of their research papers. Further, the most commonly used e-databases and e-platforms for accessing e-journals was the Google Scholar and Research Gate at both the universities. The most complexities that the users persistently faced were the utilization of the Paid subscription and the slow downloading at both the universities.
