Abstract
The study discovered the quantifiable aspects of physics scholarly publications, such as citation counts, collaborative configurations of authorship and journal impact factors as well as to evaluate the research output and impact thereby, providing perceptions into its status of north-eastern central universities within the academic community and its involvement to knowledge advancement. The results reveal a positive growth trajectory among all institutions, with Tezpur University leading in both publication output and citations. Collaborative research is prevalent, with international journals being the preferred publishing platform. It would be prudent to mention that the USA is one of the top collaborating countries with authors of NE Universities which is, followed by Japan, Germany, and Saudi Arabia both of which share the third place. In addition, the study also categorizes the most highly cited articles and surveys the thematic areas using author keywords. This work further offers valuable insights into the contemporary state and prospective future directions of physics research in the region.
