Abstract
The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP, 2020) signifies a transformative framework that transforms India’s education system by highlighting technology, digital resources, and a holistic approach to learning and achieving knowledge. Subsequently, academic libraries have overwhelmingly transferred their roles and responsibilities, positioning them as focal actors in implementing the NEP 2020. This article essentially examines the advancing role of libraries within the context of NEP 2020, concentrating on their significant impact on academic institutions and the broader education landscape. It explores the challenges and the opportunities that the libraries encounter as they embrace the digitalization and empower students as critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Moreover, the article underscores essential steps that are mandatory to empower libraries as imperative catalysts in accomplishing the ambitious goals outlined in NEP 2020. At the heart of NEP 2020 rests the recognition of libraries as cornerstone players in transforming education, ushering India towards a future where knowledge, creativity, and limitless possibilities flourish.
