Abstract

In the present day’s scenario, the daily updated information in the field of medical science is the requirement which is on a priority basis, and this is furnished by library and information science professionals. The management of various conflicts occurring amongst the library staff is therefore a Herculean task for them. In the present research, the authors have prepared a case study of the relevant information, that has been collected through the distribution of questionnaire from 97 (90% response rate) library professionals working in Medical Colleges affiliated to RGUHS in the state of Karnataka. The three foremost aspects comprised in this study are 1. Strategies used to detect conflict, 2. Strategy utilized to resolution of the conflicts and 3. Strategy used to overcome conflict situations. We discovered that observation strategy is by far the superlative strategy to detect conflict among library subordinates. In this research it was also noticed that by providing personal attention towards the problems of the staff and availing convenient shift to work will certainly resolve the conflict amongst the library staff. Through the avoidance of punishments and by possessing excellent personal communication with subordinates, Library and Information Science professionals can overpower conflicting situations which may arise in libraries.
