Abstract
This article deals with the Indian values and their impact on SR Ranganathan’s thoughts and contributions. Dr. Ranganathan has intertwined library science with Indian values. He quoted stanzas and sentences from Vedas, Brahmana Granthas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Smriti literature, philosophical books, and other sacred books to combine library and information science with ancient Indian values. Ranganathan has given ‘108 facts to find’ in his book ‘Reference Service’. The total number of principle Upanishads is also 108. Ranganathan’s favourite book was “Ramayana” he quoted several examples from Ramayana. A full chapter is devoted to Ramayana in his book “Reference Service”. The name of chapter is ‘Light from Valmiki.’
