Abstract
Examines the performance of Five State Universities of Karnataka (India) in seven broad subject fields (Physics, Chemistry, Engineering & Technology, Clinical Medicine, Biomedical Research, Biology, and Earth and Space Sciences) of Science and Technology in terms of contribution made in Science Citation Index and its impact during the period 1996-2000. The Study also revealed that there was no direct relationship between the Scientific Publication output of these Five Universities and their proportional impact on the professional community, both at the overall level as well as the broad subject level.
