Abstract
Acquainting knowledge is a lifelong process and library is the right type of agency for this purpose. A well equipped and well managed school library is the foundation of modern educational structure. The investigation aimed to assess library facilities at higher secondary level. Schools under various boards such as Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kerala State Higher Secondary Schools, and Vocational Higher Secondary Schools of Malappuram district of the state of Kerala were included in the sample. The tools used were questionnaire for students, interview for person in charge of library, and observation schedule. The questionnaire consisted of 34 questions related to infrastructural facilities, reading materials, time schedule and teachers or librarian. Observation schedule helped to gather infrastructural facilities available for library. Percentage analysis and qualitative analysis were used for analyzing the data. The study found out that Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya possess library facilities at satisfactory level.
