Abstract This paper evaluates the teaching and effect of library use course at the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Nigeria. Questionnaire method was used to obtain data in the five (5) schools in the college. Out of 550 copies of questionnaires sent out to students, 540 were returned giving a response rate of 98% and 100% for librarians. The result showed that professional librarian give adequate instructions to users despite limited facilities. Of the user survey on the library use course and its relevance to their course of study showed that student have adequate knowledge of use of library; and the use of OPAC and CD-ROM facilities improved their reading habit, but are lacking in the area of internet use. This indicates that the use of the library as a course has positive and meaningful impacts on the students.
