Abstract

This study brings into the limelight the transformative effect of Open-Access Publishing on education in the agricultural phase by conducting an in-depth analysis based on the data pertaining to the survey responses received from 142 students at the Agricultural University of Karnataka. The results unravel an extensive inclination towards the open-access models, with 83.10% of the respondents favoring the Green Route, which involves self-archiving and repository deposits. The governance of the Green Route’s underlines a robust demand for a more freely accessible research. It would be pertinent to note that approximately 76.30% of the respondents highly rendered a support to the rapid publication, while nearly 71.85% of the respondents were in favor of a swift peer review and a promotion through post-publication. The awareness of leading open-access educational platforms is remarkably elevated, with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and Coursera courses each of which are recognized by 97.78% of participants. These discoveries accentuate the burgeoning role of Open Access in enhancing the accessibility and dissemination of agricultural research, indicating a transference towards a more inclusive academic landscape.
