Abstract Services and service provision of five university libraries in Ogun State, Nigeria were assessed using analysis of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT). The findings revealed that the libraries had strengths in service provision (100%) but marketing and promotion of library services (39.5%) constituted weaknesses. Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TET Fund) intervention was an opportunity (60%) in government-owned universities, but became a threat to internal funding when over-relied upon. The study concluded that university libraries of Ogun State have more strengths and opportunities than weaknesses and threats in services provision. The study recommended that the libraries should form consortium, actively market and promote their services. Keywords Service provision, Librarians, Strategic planning, SWOT analysis, University library.
