Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to scrutinize the ability of the students to use smartphones for information seeking purposes especially by the Undergraduate students of Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi. The study of this paper is dependent on the basis of a survey research to explore the use of smartphones for academic purposes. The questionnaire was utilized as a tool to explore specific tasks, benefits, and student perspectives on the benefits of using smartphones in their studies. The research findings disclose a strong trend: most college students leverage smartphones for academic purposes. In an overall perspective, students usually hold positive views on the integration of technology into their studies. While age, origin, and Smartphone experience shows deviations in usage patterns, it is significant to consider that smartphones are a relatively new tool for many of the student participants. This points out the multi-faceted nature of the use of smartphones in the field of education, information access, and daily life. The governance of Google search and the urban-rural divide focusses on the emerging requirement for multi-pronged approaches to integration of technology in sphere of education. While acknowledging the varying manner in which students utilise smartphones and addressing the related challenges can optimise the technology’s positive impact on academic performance and information-seeking behaviours.
