Abstract
The paper takes a holistic view of the Human Capacity Building (HCB) programmes in special libraries. Ten special libraries in Oyo-State, Nigeria were selected for the study. A survey resaearch design was adopted for the study and the 92 staff of the ten selected special libraries were given copies of the structured questionnaires to elicit necessary information. Out of these, 81 returned with valid responses and found useable. This represents 88% response rate. Tables, simple percentage and frequency count were used to analyse the results. Among others, the findings showed that seminars/workshops are the most widely used HCB programmes. Recommendations capable of improving the HCB in special libraries were offered.
